The battery of a farm tractor or heavy truck simply wasn't strong enough to handle the weight of the steel wheels and rubber tires. Hence, the owners had to manually crank the cranks to start the vehicles. It was a hard and dangerous job to do by hand, especially in cold weather and with the danger of breaking an arm. Agricultural bell crank assembly failures Agricultural bell crank assembly failures are the result of the excessive wear and tear caused by varying loads and conditions. The bell crank assembly, which controls draft, is the main component of the hydraulic system. Agricultural tractors are designed to deliver tractive effort even at slow speeds, and the bell crank assembly is a critical part of this system.
