Reliable Tractor PTO Shaft Assemblies and Replacement Parts
The PTO shaft plays a vital role in transferring power from the tractor to the connected implements. Parts of the PTO shaft include internal and external PTO yokes, universal joints, safety chains, and safety guards. There are several different types of PTO shafts available, so you must choose the correct PTO shaft for your equipment and application. Each style includes a range of options, including bearing diameter, total cover to cover length, and snap ring options. The most accurate way to determine the correct series is to measure the outer diameter of the bearing cover and universal joint from one end of the cover to the other. The location of the snap ring is another determinant.

Internal yokes - two, located at both ends of the PTO shaft - tractor and implement. This is welded to the drive end. Universal joints - there are two, located at both ends of the PTO shaft. Outer yoke - two, located at both ends of the PTO shaft. It has a "Y" shaped connection to the U-shaped joint and a concave hole. Safety chain - the chain is used to secure the PTO shaft to the equipment and tractor. Safety guards - these cones are located at both ends.

Maintenance Of PTO shaft
Different applications require different maintenance plans. The worse the environment, the more important the new grease is. Steep drivelines generate heat, which degrades lubricants faster than "flat" shafts. Thrust also generates heat and force opposite to torque. Inconsistent torque loads on parts are more difficult to bear than consistent ones. By regularly observing and checking the PTO, you will not only have a "feeling" of maintenance needs, but also likely have a safer application. Frequent lubrication is required. As shown in the left figure, lubricate the parts of the driveline shaft every hour.

How to measure the parts of the PTO shaft

The correct measurement of shaft parts is crucial to the selection of the correct PTO series dimensions. Each product needs to be measured in a specific way to meet the standard size. Follow these steps to ensure that the correct measurements are obtained and to order parts for the tractor. 1. Measuring axis To measure the shaft, first make sure that the shaft is in the closed position, at which time the shaft is the smallest. use Measure the length of the outside of each yoke with a tape measure. This measurement is the closing length. Use this measurement to find the correct series size of the tractor horsepower. Make sure you also know if there are safety pins, clutches, or splined implement ends. 2. Measure the universal joint When measuring the universal joint, measure the length from one end to the other end. You also need to record the width of one end of the universal joint. Use these numbers to find the correct size of the universal joint. 3. Put them together In order to find the PTO shaft parts suitable for the tractor and work normally, you need to make the above two measurements.
